SoutheastCon2009 Receiver Wand
Description of the wand used to verify field operation through the competition.

(More information to come)
Throughout the SoutheastCon2009 Hardware Competition, operation of the invisible fence transmitters was verified through the use of a receiving 'wand'.
The wand consisted of a Texas Instruments RI-TRP-W9TD-30 RFID Transponder Tube adapted for use as an LC tank circuit that can be connected to a computer through the audio jack. This input can then be used in conjunction with an application that performs an FFT to view the 10kHz centered EM fields.
In the image below, the internals of the transponder and the location of modification can be seen. Where the capacitor is now, a circuit board was originally. The circuit board needs to be removed and a capacitor matching the inductance of the transponder coil is added in place.

The audio cable is the connected across the shown ends and run though the pvc 'wand' to a jack at the top. This end can now be connected to the computer.
